Hanalei Island IPA & Yooka-Laylee!
After years of waiting, it’s finally here! Yooka-Yaylee by Platonic Games, the spiritual successor to the Banjo-Kazooie franchise (originally on the Nintendo 64).
Comprised of members of the original studio behind Banjo; Rare, Platonic took their time to make an absolutely astonishing game. Although we had to wait through the Kickstarter funding and development process, we’re so glad we did, because the game is spectacular. Revitalizing the 3D platforming genre, Yooka-Yaylee is a stunningly beautiful game, with nostalgia around every bend. Jolly music, quirky characters, and precise movement make this game fun from the jump. It can’t be said enough how fun it was for us to play this game. Wow.
Yooka-Laylee is a colorful, bright, fun, and hard-hitting game. So what better beer to pair with it than Kona Brewing’s Hanalei Island IPA? This beer pushes guava, passionfruit, and oranges straight up your nose. Once deep inside your face these tasty notes jump around and dance in your mouth. What a playfully delicious IPA this was. We both enjoyed drinking it, and I’ve already bought a follow-up six pack to drink out in the sun. The strong tropical fruits mitigate any bitterness that a hoppy IPA would normally have, and makes for a pleasurable, smooth beer. Absolutely my new favorite IPA.
Put on a grass skirt, roast a pig, grab some Hanalei Island IPA, and boot up Yooka-Yaylee, because this is gonna be some serious fun.
